Schema.org Accepts RDFa 1.1 Lite Syntax

Tags: Schema.org, RDFa, Open Graph Protocol

The Schema.org development team released information on updates to the protocol to "allow publishers to focus more on what they want to say with their data, rather than on the details of its specific encoding as markup" by enabling support for RDFa 1.1.

Since the Open Graph Protocol, which is consumed by web giant Facebook, is also expressable in RDFa, this may help improve the interoperability landscape -- which would likely result in reduced web page load times (due to code reduction), reduced learning curve and cleaner code for web developers that wish to support both Schema.org & Open Graph Protocol.

This should also improve developer awareness of the RDFa standard, and will potentially increase its usability.
